Massey was part of a mass jailbreak involving cutting through a cell wall behind a toilet and scaling a fence. Authorities noted he had previously escaped custody multiple times—once in 2007 from a juvenile facility, again in 2019 from Morehouse Parish, and cut off two ankle monitors.

On June 27, 2025, he was peacefully arrested. A tip led the authorities to an airbnb in a Hollygrove residence in New Orleans. He surrendered without any incident. The authorities are keeping him in a high security facility as of now.
